Colts earn track honors

Ten West Stanly athletes have earned Rocky River All-Conference honors in indoor track and field, with four others gaining honorable mention recognition.
In addition, Carmen Bishop, a season-long standout in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, was named the RRC Female Field Athlete of the Year.
On the men’s side, three WSHS performers were honored. Christian Bowden earned all-conference credit for his accomplishments in the 55m dash, 300m run and the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays.
Teammate Arturo Zelaya was recognized as well for his performances in the 1000m run and on the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams.
Jackson Graham rounded out the men’s all-conference selections for the long jump, triple jump, high jump and 55m hurdles.
Two other members of the men’s squad, Braden Hartsell and Chayse Huneycutt, earned honorable mention.
In addition to Bishop, six women registered all-conference results. Natalie Almond excelled in the 1000m run, 1600 m run, 3200m run, and the 4 x 800 relay, with Aniston Hann earning accolades in the 1000m run and on the 4 x 800 relay team. Savanah Hendzel and Makaylyn Morton, both members of the 4 x 800 relay squad, also were recognized for performances in the 1000m run and 1600m run, respectively. Onii Bivens (55m dash, 300 m run, long jump and 4 x 400 relay) joined Dani Moss (high jump) on the all-league team.
Bishop, having earned the Female Field Athlete of the Year honor, also excelled in one track event, the 55m hurdles.
Honorable mention recognition was assigned to Kaelyn Morrison and Christiana Bowden as well.
