C&C: Rangers to lead hike at Morrow Mountain

Pastor Beau Linker continues with a study of the Book of Acts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Everyone is invited to participate each Tuesday through April 28. The church is at 18 Hickory St.

Morrow Mountain

Become a Junior Ranger by participating in a ranger-led hike of the Morrow Mountain Loop Trail beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Meet at Shelter A to learn about the park’s geological history.

Junior Rangers will be sworn in and may enter a raffle for a chance to win a Junior Ranger REI Coop backpack and tent. (Winner will be announced Dec. 22, 2020.)

Enjoy an introduction to bird watching followed by an easy hike on the Loop Trail beginning at 8:30 a.m. March 7. Bring water, binoculars and wear good hiking shoes.
NOTE: Bridle Trails and the Quarry Trail remain closed due to heavy rains and wind damage.

Town Business
Tuesday and Wednesday are the last scheduled leaf collection days of the season. The following streets are included: Boyden, Cheoah, Dogwood, Henderson, Kirk, Maple, Nantahala, Spruce, Tallassee and Valley Drive.

Limb and Brush Collection is March 3. Please place materials curbside by 8 a.m. and no more than one week ahead.

Better Badin
This non-profit service organization meets at 6:30 p.m. March 9 at Loafers and Legends on Falls Road. Regulars and newcomers are needed for planning future events related to the North Carolina Calling Contest (duck calling, that is) scheduled in Badin, May 23-24.

Town Council
The monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. March 10 in Town Hall, 36 Falls Road.

Bottle Show
Watch for more information about the Uwharrie Bottle Club Show and Sale which will be March 14 at the Badin VFD Firehouse on N.C. Highway 740.

Palestine News

The Peanut Butter & Jelly Ministry of Palestine United Methodist Church is collecting canned meats (chicken, tuna, salmon, Vienna sausages) and all types of soup and juice during March. If interested in donating, contact Susie Bowers.

The Ash Wednesday service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

Home Alone Meal will be at 4 p.m., March 4 in the church fellowship hall.

The David Jeremiah All I Need Bible Study will be at 6:30 p.m. March 4 through April 8 in the church sanctuary.

Palestine United Methodist Women will meet at 7 p.m. March 5 in the church fellowship hall.

Palestine United Methodist Men will meet at 7 p.m. March 5 at Blue Bay Seafood Restaurant.

The Palestine United Methodist Church Board will meet at 7 p.m. March 9 in the church sanctuary.

The Palestine Pals group will meet at 11:30 a.m. March 10 at Rosebriar Restaurant.
