UPDATE 10:20 p.m. – With all 22 districts reporting, unofficial winners of the night are Scott Efird for county commission at-large with 67.77 percent, Rufus Lefler for board of education at-large with 64.81 percent, Carla Poplin with 65.52 percent of the vote for board of education district 5 and Peter Asciutto for board of commissioners district 5 with 35.75 percent. Further reports on other contests will be posted online and in Thursday’s edition of The Stanly News & Press.

UPDATE 9:57 p.m. – With 18 districts reporting – Efird, Lefler and Poplin still commanding leads, with Asciutto hanging on by 69 votes over Warren. Morgan pulling back to within 375.

UPDATE 9:45 p.m. – With 14 districts reporting – Efird, Lefler and Poplin are still in the lead, with Asciutto pulling ahead of Warren by nearly 100 votes. Ashley Morgan still within 500 votes in that three-way contest.

UPDATE: 9:24 p.m. – With 9 districts reporting – Scott Efird, Leon Warren, Rufus Lefler and Carla Poplin are still winning their respective races, with Warren and Asciutto separated by just five votes in their contest for commissioner.

UPDATE: 9:05 p.m. – With districts 10, 14 and 212 added – Scott Efird has 68 percent of the vote for commissioner at-large. Warren and Asciutto are within 1 percent of each other for commissioner dist. 5. Lefler is ahead with 67 percent for school board and Poplin is ahead with 65 percent for school board.

UPDATE: 8:55 p.m. – In the three-way race for board of commissioners district 5, the candidates received nearly the same totals at the Locust early voting site, with Leon Warren and Peter Asciutto pulling away from incumbent commissioner Ashley Morgan with votes cast at the board of elections early voting site.

Absentee and early voting totals are the first ones released by the Board of Elections.

Leaders in absentee totals are:

Scott Efird for commissioner at-large.

Leon Warren for district 5 commissioner.

Rufus Lefler for board of education at-large.

Carla Poplin for board of education district 5.

Pat Nadolski is winning in Stanly and Montgomery counties for District 20A judgeship.
