Man faces incest of a child charge

A Montgomery County man has been charged with abuse of a child.

Stanly County Sheriff’s Office received a report March 3 of sexual abuse on a juvenile that happened in Stanly County.
After an investigation, deputies arrested Steven Michael Haywood, of 125 Columbus Dr., Mt. Gilead, on Monday with the crime of incest of a child age 13, 14 or 15 with the defendant at least six years older than the victim.
The charge against Haywood, 39, stems from an alleged offense from July 2018.
He received a bond of $250,000 and has an initial District Court date of Monday.
