Pfeiffer men’s tennis takes down Alfred

The Pfeiffer University men’s tennis team recorded an 8-1 home win over Alfred University on Monday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.
Pfeiffer (6-3) swept all six singles matches while only losing three games and took two of the three doubles contests to secure the win, the fifth in six matches for the Falcons
At No. 1 doubles, the team of Raul Ruiz and Dylan Masters won 8-0 over Logan Cross and Ryan Brown. Ruiz and Masters won the USA South Doubles Team of the Week for their performances last week.
At No. 2 doubles, Alex Taylor and Benedikt Pfeiffer scored an 8-1 win over their opposition. Alfred’s only point of the match game at No. 3 doubles when Wes Dennison and Matt Hibbert narrowly defeated Braxton Harris and Thiago Machado, by an 8-7 (4-0) final.
In the singles competition Ruiz, last week’s USA South Player of the Week, easily won his No. 1 match by a 6-0, 6-0 score. At No. 2 Benedikt Pfeiffer, the Rookie of the Week, earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ryan Brown.
Other wins for Pfeiffer included Alec Taylor at No. 3, Dylan Masters at No. 4, Trey Speight at No. 5 and Phillip Conaway at No. 6.
Taylor and Conaway swept their matches 6-0, 6-0 while Masters and Speight only lost one game in their respective matches.
