Locust offers info on monitoring virus situation

Locust City Administrator Cesar Correa released information concerning the city Thursday.

“City officials are taking the current spread of COVID-19 very seriously and are working closely with Stanly and Cabarrus counties, and other local partners in monitoring this situation,” he said. “While there have been some changes to City programming, all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that all City essential services are provided during this evolving situation.

“Some of the changes that have been made at this time to limit the spread of the virus and other diseases include:

• All residents are encouraged to conduct utilities payments with the City utilizing its online feature at https://locustnc.mygovhub.com/#/ or depositing your payment in our City Hall utilities payment drop box located outside by the City Hall entrance or by calling the City offices at 704-888-5260 and making your payment over the phone during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

• All residents are encouraged to conduct other business with the City, where possible, by calling the City offices at 704-888-5260 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

• All City recreation and parks programs, as well as gatherings are suspended until at least Monday, April 6. Staff will take this time to evaluate the programs and follow up with participants with more information.

• City facilities are being disinfected multiple times a day.
