On March 26, 2020, Stanly County Health Department was informed of a second positive case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the county. This case was the result of contact with a person who had tested positive for COVID-19.

At this time, the individual is isolating at home and willingly cooperating with public health officials. Stanly County Health Department team members are monitoring the individual during this home isolation and are identifying any close contacts to monitor symptoms and contain potential spread. To protect the individual’s privacy, no further information will be provided.

There are ways that you can protect yourself and your community. The following actions are recommended by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

● If you are sick, STAY HOME! Most people will recover without needing medical care

● Call your doctor or 911 if you have,

○ Shortness of breath
○ Difficulty breathing
○ Chest pain or pressure
○ Confusion
○ Blue lips

● Stay away from others if you have symptoms of fever and cough

● Return to regular activities 7 days after your symptoms began, AND you are without fever for 3 days, AND other symptoms have improved

● If you have to go out, keep a 6 feet distance between yourself and others

● Avoid people who are sick

● Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds with soap and water

● Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your bent elbow
