An Albemarle man has died after a Friday shooting.

Albemarle Police responded to the area of Arey Avenue and Lundix Street in reference to a shots fired call.

A short time later, a gunshot wound victim was located behind the residence at 504 Arey Ave. EMS arrived on the scene. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified as Sylvester Corey Maske, 27.

Detectives responded to the scene and are following up on all leads at this time. SBI agents also responded to the scene to aid in the investigation.
