Albemarle offers ways for public comments

In order to maintain the safety of City of Albemarle residents, City Council members and city staff, Albemarle City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday via an electronic form. A quorum of City Council, the mayor and the city manager will be physically present in Council Chambers during the meeting using social distancing measures.

However, a few council members will join the meeting via phone conference using the Zoom platform. This meeting will be livestreamed via Vimeo and Facebook.

Public comment will be received by conference call line, using Zoom. The meeting will also be recorded as normal and available on the city’s website after the meeting.

For general public commenting, City of Albemarle residents wishing to address City Council are required to complete the following steps no later than 2 p.m. Monday.

1. Either email or call the City Clerk at cstone@ ci.albemarle.nc.us or 704-984-9411 and provide the following information:

a. Full name

b. Phone number you expect to use to dial into the Zoom conference call line.

c. A brief summary of the topic on which you would like to speak.

2. Dial into the meeting at 7 p.m. Monday using the call in information noted below.

Once you have signed up to comment, to call into the meeting be sure to dial in from the phone number you provided to the City Clerk when you signed up to speak.

For general commenting related to the public hearing regarding a new economic development item only (see agenda link above), City of Albemarle residents are not required to sign up in advance of the meeting.

Please follow instructions listed below to register your comment during the public hearing:

1. Dial into the meeting at 7 p.m. Monday using the Zoom meeting call in method noted above.

2. On your phone, dial *9 to make a request to comment during the public hearing. When you are unmuted at the appropriate time in the meeting, clearly state the following first prior to providing your input:

a. Your full name; and

b. The address in the City of Albemarle at which you reside.
