The City of Albemarle continues to help the community navigate through the evolving events related to COVID-19. The Parks & Recreation and Public Housing departments will be added sites for food distribution for Stanly County Schools sponsored lunches beginning on Monday.

Parks & Recreation and Public Housing will continue this distribution until June 10.

Times and locations for food distribution will be:

• E.E. Waddell Center (621 Wall St.) from 12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. daily

• Amhurst Gardens Ballfield (441 Bell St.) from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. daily

When picking up at E.E. Waddell Center, people should enter in the circle driveway. People should stay in their cars and staff will ask how many lunches they need. Staff will place lunches in the back seat of their car or their trunk.

When picking up at Amhurst Gardens Ballfield, people may either drive up and stay in their cars, or walk up and maintain social distancing.

“We are excited to be able to partner with Stanly County Schools to offer these additional pick-up locations for the residents of Albemarle,” Lisa Kiser, director of Parks and Recreation, said.
