Albemarle Assistant City Manager Nyki Hardy released the following information on the city’s plans to reopen:

“In accordance with phase II of North Carolina’s reopening plan, effective Tuesday, May 26, City of Albemarle offices will reopen to the public. Some Parks & Recreation activities and
amenities (e.g., picnic shelters, athletic playing surfaces) will also reopen. Public Housing
services will be provided by appointment and over the phone. Public Housing payments should be placed in the drop box at the Public Housing office on South Bell Avenue.

“Protective barriers, social distancing measures and room occupancy restrictions will be in place to protect the health and safety of employees and the public. However, Covid-19 is still with us; therefore, we strongly encourage you to continue to manage city transactions over the phone, electronically, or via the drive-through at City Hall. If you must enter a City building, we strongly recommend wearing a mask. We will have masks and hand sanitizer dispensers available for public use.

“We want our employees and the people we serve to remain safe and vigilant to protect each
other’s health and remain coronavirus free. We love our community; please stay safer at home.”
