For the week ending May 24, Stanly County Health Department reported 18 new positive cases of COVID-19. This was the highest weekly increase since we began case tracking in March.

Each person who has tested positive for COVID-19 is interviewed by health department staff for contact tracing. Contact tracing determines where an individual has been and who they may have come in contact with while they were potentially able to transmit the virus to others.

Following guidance from NC Department of Health and Human Services, those identified as
being exposed to a positive case are contacted by the health department. They will be advised
to be tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate for 14 days from their last contact with the positive
individual.

Stanly County Health Department drive-in testing site has seen approximately 100 patients
since it opened on May 15. There are currently 55 total positive cases of COVID-19 and four
deaths. Twenty-eight individuals have recovered and the health department is actively
monitoring 22 individuals.

● Wear a cloth face covering.

● Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.

● Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
