Stanly Community College (SCC) will commemorate graduation a little differently this year
by holding drive-thru graduations June 8 through June 11 on the Albemarle campus.
In an effort to maintain social distancing standards, SCC will be holding the event in an outdoor space, offering graduates a drive-thru style ceremony. The graduates will receive their ceremonial cords of distinction while still within their vehicle, and then offered the opportunity to walk across the graduation stage and receive their earned credential.
“Graduation is an important milestone for our students and we want to offer them a memorable experience as we work through the global pandemic,” SCC President Dr. John Enamait said. “The health, safety, and well-being of our students remains our top priority. I want to express my pride and happiness for all our graduating students and wish them all the best as they begin their next passage.”
The drive-thru graduations will be located between the Eddins Building and Whitley Building in parking lot G.
Campus signs will be posted directing graduates where to go. Graduates and their family may arrive on campus anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with each day designated for a specific academic program. Students are asked to adhere to the program date they fall into if possible.
