With the school year officially over, Stanly County Schools has adjusted its meal distribution schedule for the summer.

Through July 30, summer meals for students in the county will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday at four drive-through sites.

The sites are Albemarle Middle School, Badin Elementary School, South Stanly Middle School and Stanfield Elementary School.

All meals, which include lunch and breakfast for the next day, are free to students 18 years and under, regardless if they are enrolled in Stanly County Schools.

Buses will not be used to take food to other school sites.

Lunch sites will be closed July 2 for observance of the July 4 holiday.

Stanly County Schools’ meal distribution program began March 16. On that day, the school system delivered 5,300, the highest number in the state.

SCS has been serving around 5,000 meals to students each day. The school system has served 337,510 meals since it began in mid-March, according to Superintendent Dr. Jeff James.
