Three Rivers Land Trust announced it will receive support from the 2020 Stanly County Community Foundation, as administered through the Foundation for the Carolinas, in the amount of $1,200 to grow the impact of our Uwharrie Chapter in Stanly County.

The purpose of the chapter is to allow the Land Trust to better connect the community to the outdoors, as well as serve as a local arm for conservation-based service projects and events.

The funds will be used to host chapter-sponsored Land Trust events in Stanly County, including service opportunities and volunteer events focused on the protection of local
natural resources and outdoor education. Additionally, TRLT will be looking at county-
centric recreational opportunities, such as a beginner paddle instructional course and
naturalist days.

The Uwharrie Chapter, which serves Stanly and Montgomery counties, is a strong chapter
with a track record of serving the community through events. It has successfully
hosted a Half-Hike in the Uwharrie National Forest, and TLRT is excited to expand its
ability to offer programming and opportunities in Stanly County with this additional
financial support.

Executive Director Travis Morehead. “We believe in connecting the public to local
conservation, by hosting events that showcase these great natural resources.”

In recent years, The Land Trust has helped to add over 80 acres to Morrow Mountain State
Park through 3 conservation projects. Three Rivers Land Trust is the only land conservation organization in a 15-county region in the Central Piedmont and the Sandhills.

The main distinguishing factor of TRLT lies in their commitment to protect and conserve
land locally, all while ensuring that members and those within the community are able to
access and enjoy those natural areas. The diversity of events and opportunities TRLT
provides gives every demographic a chance to experience conservation at a local level.
