County recognized for financial reporting

The Stanly County Finance Department recently received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) certificate of achievement award for its excellence in financial reporting associated with its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019.

The award represents the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The honor marks a significant accomplishment by a
government and its management.

“The Certificate of Excellence demonstrates Stanly County’s commitment to the highest standards of financial reporting, integrity and transparency,” County Manager Andy Lucas said. “Our finance staff works extremely hard to ensure Stanly County develops an annual financial reporting tool that enables various users and our citizens to clearly understand the county’s financial position.”

GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 20,000 government
finance agencies in the United States and Canada.
