Rain this week forced the Stanly N.C. 3 senior baseball team to play a doubleheader Wednesday night at McCrary Park in Asheboro.

Stanly was the visiting team in the first game and pulled away late for a 6-4 win, but lost the second game 9-2 as the home team.

In the opening game, each team scored three runs in the first inning. Stanly (2-4, 2-3 league) trailed 4-3 after three but rallied for two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for the win.

Colby Lamm picked up the win in relief for Stanly, scattering three hits over the final four innings.

Leadoff hitter Cody Naylor led Stanly, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, driving in two runs in the fourth inning to put Stanly back ahead 5-4. Trevor Tucker added an RBI single in the first and increased Stanly’s lead in the fifth with an RBI sac fly.

In the second game, Connor Tucker put Stanly ahead 2-1 in the third inning with a two-out, two-run homer.

Randolph scored the next eight runs of the game and limited Stanly to one hit over the remaining four innings to post the win.

Naylor and Lamm also had hits in the second game for Stanly.

Stanly travels to Molt-Hoffett Field in Lexington Friday to face Davidson County, then returns home Saturday to host Kannapolis at The Ball Park at West Stanly.
