Carroll Dean and Clara Gallimore Layton marked 60 years of marriage on June 23, 2020.

Clara grew up in Norwood; Carroll in Albemarle.

Carroll is an Army veteran and retired from Wiscassett Mills in 2000. He is known for his pieces of woodwork produced through the years.

Clara loved working with children. After working 20 years with Albemarle City Schools and 32 years with Kiddie Kare and Kiddie Kare Too, she retired in 2009.

The Laytons are members of the Albemarle Seventh Day Adventist Church.
