We have been and continue to answer questions, provide information, make referrals and advocate for our community.

In addition, we have recently partnered with the Stanly Community College’s Small Business Center to offer free one-on-one confidential counseling to small businesses.

Here is information from the original press release covering the partnership and what we can offer to businesses.

Stanly Community College’s Small Business Center, in collaboration with the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, will provide free and confidential business counseling to help qualifying Stanly County business owners recover from the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Reboot, Recover and Rebuild program was established to provide small businesses with counseling and helpful resources during this crisis and beyond.

Dr. John Enamait, president of Stanly Community College, further explained the effort’s objective.

“Many business owners in Stanly County have been struggling from the effects of COVID-19 and are unsure of what the future holds for them,” Enamait said. “The Reboot, Recover and Rebuild program was built to help small businesses not only survive the COVID-19 crisis, but recover quickly and establish future business strategies to grow and prosper.”

By meeting one-on-one with counsel and completing a detailed assessment of their needs, small business owners are able to develop a specific plan for recovery. Industry and content experts will be available to aid in areas such as SBA Disaster Loan compliance, marketing/sales, customer retention, new revenue streams, website support, technology guidance, CPA’s, lawyers, and more.

The Stanly County Chamber of Commerce remains committed to the goals Dr. Enamait described.

“We encourage small business owners to take full advantage of this program that ends on Dec. 30, 2020,” Sandy Selvy-Mullis, Chamber president and chief executive officer, said. “We are committed to doing everything we can to help Stanly County’s small businesses as our local economy weathers this pandemic’s storm.”

This partnership has already resulted in conversations with independent business owners as well as small businesses. We still encourage any business in need of guidance to contact us.

We also encourage area business professionals interested in working as one of our local subject matter experts to contact us. We would love to have you work as one of our professional counselors.

Don’t forget the Chamber’s annual golf tournament is rescheduled for Aug. 19. The tournament will be held at Piney Point Golf Club in Norwood. Registration is at 10:30 a.m., lunch at 11 a.m. and shotgun start at noon. We only have a few more spots available for teams, so please contact us as soon as possible if you want to participate.
