National Piano Auditions coming up

The National Piano Auditions, sponsored by The National Guild Of Piano Teachers, will be Aug. 10-11 at Second Street Presbyterian Church in Albemarle.
Willa D. Carlton, from Durham, will be the adjudicator for the auditions. She has a bachelor of arts degree in music education with a concentration in piano, and is a private teacher in Durham.
In addition to her piano studio, she has held summer music camps and has served as church organist and minister of music.
Carlton has also served as president for the Durham Music Teachers’ Association.
Three piano teachers, chairwoman Alma Rae Tucciarone, Joyce Harwood and Mienna Powell, will have students to play in this event. Students will be evaluated on performance, repertoire and musicianship.
Students of Tucciarone that will play in the National Division are Bryson Barbee, Reese Coble, Cindy Chen and Lydia Crisco. Sydney McRae will play in the Hobbyist Division.
Powell’s students are Elijah Powell, International Division, and Preston Powell, playing in the National Division.
Students of Harwood include Ethan Richards for the Paderewski Gold Medal; Mia Benoy, Allyson Harkey, Andrew Harwood, Amelia Holt, Spencer Lambert, Nate Ludeking, Claire Mauldin, Emma Nantz, Polly Nantz, Ethan Richards, Seth Richards, Kaydence Roberson, Wesley Rodgers, Rachel Stewart, Ben Williamson, Emily Williamson and Jack Williamson in the National Division; Ella Morgan and Melani Sanchez in the State Division; Tyler Horton and Jair Sanchez in the District Division; and Sarai Lopez and Mayeri Sanchez in the Hobbyist Division.
