SCC names associate vice president

Stanly Community College has announced that Devin Baucom was named the associate vice president for the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Industry, Technology and Trades (AMITT).
Devin Baucom was named the Associate Vice President for the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Industry, Technology and Trades at Stanly Community College.
In his new role, Baucom will provide leadership for the school, as well as work with employees and liaisons to create a network of support for planning of long-term goals to benefit the school and the college.
Additionally, he will act as the school’s entrepreneur in identifying, developing and implementing new opportunities and programs.
“We are excited to have Devin move into the Associate Vice President position,” Jeff Parsons, SCC, vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer, said. “He has done a great job as dean for the last two years and will be invaluable as we work to grow our existing AMITT programs and expand our offerings in the trades.”
Baucom joined Stanly Community College in 2011. He has served as a faculty member, program director and a dean. His previous work experience in development, leadership, project management and conflict resolution from businesses such as Byrum Heating and A/C Inc., Boling and Hough Heating and A/C, and Commercial Mechanical Contractors Inc., will bring distinctive skills and experience to his new position, officials said.
Baucom is pursuing his Master of Divinity in Leadership from Liberty University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary in Charlotte. He received his Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning education from South Piedmont Community College, and was the Outstanding Student of the Year Scholarship Recipient in 1998 and 1999.
“I feel honored to have been chosen for this position,” Baucom said. “I am excited about the opportunities and look forward to working with my colleagues to help build innovative partnerships for the college and Stanly County.”
When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters; and mentoring and working in his congregation.
