The following is from North Stanly Middle School Principal Karen Nixon.

Welcome Back NSMS Comets!

My name is Karen S. Nixon and I’m excited to be joining the Comet family as

Karen Nixon

principal for the 2020-21 school year. I have 25 years of experience in education, which includes 12 years of administrative experience. This experience includes most grade levels. I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead a school that has such strong traditions. I am looking forward to partnering with you to cultivate a collaborative school community in which all students can succeed.

Along with teachers and staff, I will work hard to build strong relationships with parents, students and community members. We will focus on Common Core skills and the use of data to drive instruction.

We, as a staff, will provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner with the goal of increasing student achievement. In 2019, my school received recognition for exceeding growth. It is my expectation to continue this cycle of achievement at NSMS.

We are all eager and excited to begin this school year. My new assistant principal, Brian Bradshaw, and I have been hard at work designing a reopening plan that continues to focus on providing quality instruction to all of our students in a safe and healthy environment. The safety of our children is our number one priority. I encourage each of you to visit our school’s official webpage for current information on reopening as well as other school related announcements.

This year will be different in many ways, but by working together, we can continue to be Comet Strong and have a successful school year.
