The following is by Mandy Efird, principal of Norwood Elementary School.
Welcome back to the 2020-21 school year!
I am Mandy Efird and am proud to be the principal at Norwood School. This will be my second year at Norwood.
I am a Stanly County native, and this will be my 18th year in education. I am married to Levi, who teaches at North Stanly Middle School. We have three children, Bryson, 8, Josiah, 6, and Brynlee, 2. Our boys attend school at Endy. I enjoy traveling and time spent with my family.
A new school year is always an exciting time with lots of anticipation and excitement. I am so excited to start another school year at Norwood Elementary and to see our students back in our building.
I look forward to seeing our returning students as well as meeting new faces of students who will be joining us at Norwood this year.
We are working diligently to prepare for the return of our students, whether they choose face to face or remote learning. We want to ensure that our students are safe and that they receive a quality education every day.
Our staff is already planning and preparing the return of our students. While our world right now definitely looks different and requires us to change how we do things, our teachers have been looking for creative ways to continue to teach and meet the needs of every child.
As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” The partnership between the school and our families to help each student reach his/her full potential is crucial.
We look forward to working together to make this the best school year!
