The following is from Melissa Smith, principal of Central Elementary School:
We would like to welcome all of our “bullpups” to Central Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year. We have missed all of our Bullpups that we have not seen since March and we welcome each new Bullpup that will be joining us this fall.
As your Central family, we know that there are many joys, concerns, questions and fears regarding this school year whether students are participating in person or virtually. We do not know all of the answers, but we do know that we are committed to each and every student and family represented to walk this new journey together. So, let’s “Rock It Out!”
What do you need to know about Central Elementary? WE ARE FAMILY! Every family has qualities that make it unique. Central is no different. We celebrate our accomplishments and we learn from every mistake.
We are going to be embarking on a new adventure this year by creating a “new normal” for the faculty, staff and students each day. One thing we do know for certain is that children thrive when provided with consistency and structure. Our goal is to create that environment.
Children are not always able to verbalize how they are feeling about what is going on in the world around them. We strive to provide them with a place where they can begin to figure all that out. We are a SAFE place.
What can you do to help? We need you! Our students have quite a few academic gaps to close quickly. We need active parents and families to help provide optimum care and a quality education.
We need daily communication through planners, class dojo and other social media platforms, email, texts, etc. Once you become part of the Central family, we become part of your family. You entrust your children to us for more hours in a day that you receive, so it is imperative that we communicate with one another.

What do you do when you walk into a room and it is dark? You turn on a light. We are going to try to be the best “light” for our Central family. This school year is not going to look like any other school year in the history of education, but we will work to navigate this new adventure with a positive mindset, love, hope and light.
We hope that you will help us to “BE THE LIGHT” in the darkness as we begin this new school year. We look forward to working with you, loving your child(ren) each day and solving the unknown.
Central Elementary will be successful and will persevere if we all work together as a family. Thanks for all you do!
