Event to feature food trucks

Albemarle Parks & Recreation will host a number of food trucks for the Rebound Round-Up event from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday at City Lake Park.

Participants are asked to social distance from one another and wear a mask while ordering from the trucks.

Back to School Celebration

Albemarle Parks & Recreation will have a Drive Thru Back to School Celebration from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday.

Children will receive school supplies and freezie pops during this celebration.

Those wishing to attend will need to drive through the circle drive on Wall Street to receive school supplies.

School supply drive

United Way is partnering with Stanly County Schools and others to conduct a school supply drive for local students.

Scouts host event

The Central NC Council of Boy Scouts of America will have a low country seafood bash and oyster roast from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 12 at Friendly Chevrolet, 2307 U.S. Highway 52 N., Albemarle.

Tickets are $85 each, $150 per couple, $280 for four tickets, $700 for 10 tickets and $1,500 and above for tickets as requested. Individual tickets will be $95 at the door.

Proceeds will benefit Scouting programs in Stanly and Montgomery counties.

Menu includes low country boil, oysters, chicken, sides and an assortment of desserts.

Tickets will be mailed prior to the event.

No reunions this year

The descendants of Rufus and Mollie Burris will not have their reunion this year due to the coronavirus.

The Carpenter reunion, usually held at Aquadale VFD, has also been called off this year due to COVID-19.
