Allison Taylor Smith, a summer graduate of Stanly Community College who will continue working toward a bachelor’s degree at Pfeiffer University, was elected as secretary of North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda during the student organization’s recent virtual State Leadership Conference.

Smith, who is studying accounting, was involved throughout the year in SCC activities. She served as an officer of the PBL chapter and as secretary of the Student Government Association. She represented the PBL chapter at the 2019 Fall Leadership Development Conference in Greensboro and was chairwoman of the committee to prepare the SCC entry, which won the Best Chapter Display contest at the conference.

Voting delegates from chapters throughout the state selected Jennifer Nelson, a graduate student at Barton College, as state president.

Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate level of Future Business Leaders of America and emphasizes developing business skills, leadership characteristics and career preparation and professionalism.

“At Stanly Community College, I received many opportunities to build my leadership skills,” Smith said. “I am honored and excited to have been elected as a state PBL officer while at SCC and then continue as a member of the Pfeiffer chapter.”
