Almond in hospital after suffering serious allergic reaction from wasp sting
Richfield Town Commissioner Terry Almond is at Atrium Health in Charlotte in serious condition after being stung by a red wasp over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post from the Misenheimer-Richfield Fire Department, he had a serious allergic reaction from the sting.
“We ask you to keep Terry Almond, his wife June and their family in your prayers during this critical time,” the post read.
Town Administrator Carolyn Capps said Almond’s family came by the town hall and said he woke up late Monday afternoon. Doctors said that is a good sign, Capps said.
Almond has been on the town board around 30 years, Mayor Terry Deese said.
