On Aug. 19, the SCCoC hosted the Stanly County Chamber Classic. This tournament was a great success due to the help and support of many in the community. We would like to thank our sponsors, many volunteers, players and the Piney Point Golf Club staff.

Our event sponsors were Stanly Community College, Uwharrie Bank and Union Power Cooperative. First Bank sponsored our lunch, with Friendly Chevrolet Buick providing the hole in one sponsorship and Kinetic by Windstream sponsoring our beverage carts. Flag sponsors were SunTrust-Now Truist and Vac & Dash. Our tee box sponsors were Stanly Community College, Uwharrie Bank, Union Power Cooperative, SunTrust-Now Truist, Dr. Eric Johnsen, The Falcon Trail, Kinetic by Windstream, H&K Automotive, Piedmont Natural Gas, The Stanly News & Press, Garmon Mechanical Service, 107.3FM and 1010AM WSPC, SouthernAire Heating & Air Conditioning, Stanly County Economic Development Commission, Spring Arbor of Albemarle, Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware and Vac & Dash. Thank you all for making this a successful event.

We would like to remind Stanly County businesses and entrepreneurs of the opportunity for free, confidential business counseling offered through a partnership with Stanly Community College, Stanly County Small Business Center and the SCCoC. The Reboot, Recover and Rebuild program provides counseling and invaluable resources to build your future business recovery plan. For more information, contact Sandy Selvy-Mullis at 704-982-8116, sandy@stanlychamber.org or visit www.stanychamber.org or Stanly Community College Small Business Center at 704-991-0355 or visit www.stanly.edu.

Save the Date for Nov. 7. The SCCoC and the Albemarle Rotary Club will host a Reverse Raffle from 6-10 p.m. at Albemarle Market Station in downtown Albemarle. Stanly County has a rich history of reverse raffle events for more than two decades. The Albemarle Rotary Club and the SCCoC both have hosted exciting raffles and are teaming up to offer the community the best yet.

Save the date and be on the lookout for more details in the next couple of weeks. You will not want to miss this fun event and the chance to win cash prizes.

Sandy Selvy-Mullis is president and CEO of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce. Her column appears the first weekend of every month in The Stanly News & Press.
