Over the Labor Day weekend, a Stanfield man died as a result of injuries sustained from a motorcycle crash.

William Chase Hanline, 24, passed away after crashing into the brick wall of a residence Saturday at approximately 3 a.m. while driving a motorcycle on Mission Church Road north of Locust.

First Sgt. James Jackson of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said an email he received stated speed was possibly a factor in the incident. He added the motorcycle went left of the center line and off the road before striking the wall.

Trooper Whit Efird and Sgt. Brad Pope responded to the scene first from the Highway Patrol.

Jackson also said Hanline was pronounced dead at the scene.
