Farmers Market

The Locust Farmers Market is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday across from the Locust Elementary School. You can find craft items, fresh vegetables and sometimes there are flowers and plants.

Scouts Sign Up

BSA will be having a sign up for youth throughout the Central NC Council region 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Stanly County sign-up locations to join Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA are at Locust Presbyterian Church on NC 24-27 in Locust or at Tractor Supply on NC 24-27 in Albemarle.

There are units in many parts of Stanly County including Pack and Troop 202 at Locust Presbyterian, Pack and Troop 210 at St. Martin Lutheran and Troop 51 at Pine Grove Methodist. Cub Scout Packs are for boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade and Scouts BSA Troops are for youth from ages 11-18.

All leaders receive background checks and are required to take training courses to ensure the safety of all participants.

Scouts Meeting Schedule

Cub Scout Pack 202 has resumed weekly meetings on a new night in a new location. The Pack is meeting each Thursday at 7 p.m. at Locust Presbyterian. New members are welcome. Pack 202 serves youth from kindergarten through fifth grade. Locust Presbyterian is at 607 W. Main St.

Troop 202, for youth aged 11 to 18 years, is temporarily meeting at Frog Pond Performance on Newsome Road in Frog Pond at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Matt Sheffield is the Cubmaster for Pack 202 and Richard Sides is the Scoutmaster for Troop 202.

Welcome

Philadelphia Baptist Church recently welcomed Jacob Capps and his new wife Hope as their new Associate Pastor of Youth and Children. The church is on Philadelphia Church Road off N.C. 200 in Stanfield.

Wednesday Services

Providence Church of God has resumed Wednesday night service.

This means Kids ministry, Youth group and Adult Bible study. Youth Group begins at 6:45 p.m.,
Adult Bible study and Kids Ministry begins at 7.

Movie Night

The next Family Movie Night will be Oct. 3 featuring “Aladdin.”

The movie will begin at dusk. The movie will be shown on a large inflatable screen in the back yard of City Hall. This is a free event so bring the family and chairs or blanket for a great night.
