Another Stanly school joins the list of local institutions switching operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stanly County Schools (SCS) decided Tuesday afternoon to switch North Stanly High School to remote learning. The school will continue remotely through Oct. 16, with students returning Oct. 19.

Per a letter on the SCS website from the Stanly County Health Department, the switch comes “due to multiple COVID-19 positive cases among school staff, all students at North Stanly High School will transition to remote learning.”

The letter further states SCS is “not aware of any students being considered a close contact to positive staff members. Staff who are close contacts and are required to quarantine will be notified by school administrators.”

SCS and the health department are also being asked “to closely monitor your child’s health during remote learning. If you notice your child developing any symptoms of illness, please notify North Stanly High School immediately.”

Lunch can be picked up at the cafeteria drive-thru at North Stanly Middle School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
