BADIN/PALESTINE NEWS: Residents organize golf cart parade

Badin Presbyterian

Pastor Dan Wray invites everyone to indoor Sunday services at 10 a.m. and asks the congregation to wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.

Badin UMC

The congregation has moved indoors for 11 a.m. Sunday services. No other events are planned at this time, according to Pastor Beau Linker.

Badin Baptist

The church has decided all services will be virtual for now, said Pastor B.J. Bowers. Sunday’s schedule includes Sunday school at 9 a.m. via Zoom and worship at 10 a.m. via Facebook Live. Call to Prayer and Bible study via Facebook Live on Wednesdays has changed to 6 p.m.

First Baptist

Pastor Anthony Neal leads congregational worship on Sundays at 11 a.m., preceded by Sunday school at 10 a.m., both via Facebook Live. Check the church’s Facebook page for an announcement about another drive-through distribution of Farmers to Families Food Boxes this week.

Palestine News

Palestine UMC will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday for outdoor services.

Bethel UMC meets Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for outdoor services.

Golf Cart Ride

It’s the inaugural Halloween Golf Cart Ride on Friday for all Badin golf carts or tractors. Tie on some lights or drape spider webs on the hood and meet up with neighbors behind the VFD off Nantahala Street at 6:30 p.m.

After a parade through East and West Badin, attendees will return to the firehouse for light refreshments.

Stony Hill UMC

Drive-in Sunday services are taking place at 10:30 a.m. on the church grounds, 28996 Stony Hill Road, or anyone may access the services via Facebook Live.

Pastor Kaye Fry invites the community to join in prayer walks around Badin Elementary each Wednesday from 9-10 a.m., weather permitting.

Families are invited to a Pumpkin Carving gathering on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the church. Please bring a pumpkin, carving tools, disposable tablecloth and plastic trash bag.

Each child will receive a treat bag, but this activity is offered in lieu of trunk-or-treat this year. Family groups are asked to observe social distancing guidelines with other groups.

Come drive-by at 5:30 p.m. to vote on a favorite carving.

Morrow Mountain

Join a ranger-led Halloween Hike Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to hear about mountain folklore and check out the last of the fall leaf colors. Meet at Three Rivers Trail next to the Boathouse Parking Lot. Bring water and wear comfortable walking gear.

The historic Kron House will once again open for self-guided tours on Nov. 8 from 2-3 p.m.

Town Business

Limb and brush pick-up is Nov. 3. Please place debris curbside before 8 a.m.

Town Council will meet Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Conference Center. Visitors are welcome to attend. All social-distancing guidelines will be observed.

Better Badin, Inc.

Better Badin Board’s meeting is scheduled Nov. 2.

The organization’s regular meeting is Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Loafers and Legends, 24 Falls Road. Everyone has hopes for the Badin events being planned for 2021. Stay tuned. Better yet, join in the discussions and plans.
