The Stanly County Arts Guild recently announced the winners from its annual photography exhibition and competition at its gallery.

The show was judged by Monroe’s Rick Crider, who has worked for 42 years as a photojournalist. Crider freelanced with the Associated Press, magazines and news publications while teaching photography at Anson Tech and South Piedmont Community College.

The first-place award of $200 went to Dwight Dennis for his photo titled “Super Moon.” Of the work, Crider said the photograph “shows an artistic element that requires vision as well as technical ability.”

Second place and $150 went to Nicole Dombrowski for her black-and-white photo called “Dinner in the Dust,” which the judge said the photo “draws the viewer in as needed and intended.”

Third place and $100 was awarded to Judy Ferree’s “Sunset at Salvo,” which Crider said was “an excellent execution at seeing art in the most common scenes.”

Honorable mentions went to Lee Haywood’s “Future of the Family Farm on a Dropped Tailgate” and to “Equador 1” from Dale Clark.

The gallery is at 330 N. Second St. in Albemarle.
