LOCUST NEWS: Parade, shoebox collection scheduled

The City of Locust will host the 2020 Locust Christmas Parade on Dec. 5 at 1 p.m.

The City of Locust Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking participants for the parade.

Home designed floats, walking groups, golf carts, dancers, classic cars, equestrian groups, etc. are welcome.

Free registration is open now. Each participating group/float is asked to submit a registration form so organizers can best communicate with participants.

The parade route will begin at the Lion Club Drive Parking Lot, making a left onto N.C. 200, right onto Market Street, left onto Ray Kennedy Drive, right onto Town Center Drive, right at Sassy Cakes Bakery, left at Locust Town Homes, right onto Kingston Drive, right onto Smith Street and end back at the Lion Club Drive Parking Lot.

Locust Presbyterian Church

We are a drop off collection site for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Drop off one or hundreds. Come in the driveway on the west side (beside Church Street). The collection room will be marked and volunteers will be available. Some of the drop off times are Nov. 18, Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Nov. 21 10 a.m.- 12 p.m., Nov. 22 1-3 p.m. and Nov. 23 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
