Once again, Oakboro Police Chief T.J. Smith will be high atop a building again this December for a toy drive, but this year he will not be alone.

Stanly County Sheriff Jeff Crisco will join Smith atop the NAPA Auto Parts Store building at 319 Main St. in Oakboro for the third annual Oakboro Toys for Tots Toy Drive Dec. 2 from 8 a.m. until enough toys are donated to fill a trailer.

The event is sponsored by the Oakboro Police Department, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office and the Stanly County Marine Corps Reserve.

Smith said toys donated for the drive will later be distributed by Stanly County Christian Ministry and West Stanly Christian Ministries.

Smith said the annual event “has gotten tremendous participation” and hopes the drive can reach even more with the inclusion of Crisco.
