Under current restrictions with Executive Order 176, the City of Locust decided to cancel the 2020 Christmas parade.

Cookie / Santa Cruise-In

Come visit Santa at Locust City Hall. Residents of Locust are invited to drive by Locust City Hall on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to visit with Santa from their vehicles. The first 150 kids will receive an ornament and cookie from Santa.

Residents can enter the Christmas Cookie Cruise-in by entering Locust Town Center, turning left behind Pinnacle Bank on Bank Street, then taking a right on Buck Hill Drive and turning right at the dead end toward the Veterans Memorial. From there, you will be directed to the front of Locust City Hall to visit with Santa.

Please remain in your car at all times.

Leaf Collection

Two leaf collection dates for the City of Locust residents will be Dec 12 and Jan. 9. During this event, all leaves must be at curb/roadside and must only be leaves, no brush. Please have your leaves accessible by 7 a.m. on the scheduled dates and crews will work to get all collected as quickly as possible. Please be patient with weather delays. In the past there were some delays due to rainy weather.

If you have questions contact Tim Flieger at 704-888-5260 ext 106.

Locust Police

The Locust Police Department is hosting Coats by Cops, a donation event coordinated by Locust Elementary School Resource Officer Allison Griffith to assure area children in need have a winter coat and accessories for the upcoming cold weather months.

Donations of children’s and youth coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, hoodies and pullovers will be accepted at the Locust Police Department from now until Dec. 31.

On Jan. 9, 2021, the Locust Police Department will host an event to provide these donated items to any children and youth in need. Event details are to be determined based on current status of the Covid pandemic and associated requirements.

Please consider donating new or like new winter coats and accessories for this wonderful cause and help us at the Locust Police Department continue to better serve in our community.
