Albemarle Police detectives issued warrants Thursday for three suspects involved in a 2018 homicide case.

Warrants for arrests were obtained for Montie K. Brewer, 21, of New London, Demetrion M. Pemberton, 21, of Albemarle, and Haywood J. Forte, 23, of  Concord for the death of Brian Smith, 24, on Aug. 25, 2018.

The three suspects are in Stanly County Jail without bond awaiting a Monday court date.

At around 5:42 p.m. Aug. 25, 2018, officers with the

Albemarle Police Department responded to the area of Walnut Street and Hill Street in reference to a possible gunshot wound. Smith, the victim, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have been following up on available leads since the time of the incident.
