The Center for Prevention services will share the results of the first Youth Drug Survey administered to Stanly County Schools in spring 2020 during a zoom presentation at 3 p.m. Dec. 15.
The YDS was designed by the CPS more than 30 years ago and has been in continuous use with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
The online survey assesses use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and prescription drugs; the perceptions of risk associated with these substances; and intentions regarding future use.
This project is the first comprehensive study of alcohol and other drug use among students in Stanly County. This data would provide the substance use prevention providers, Project Lazarus coalition and Stanly County decision makers an insight into the use of substances by middle school and high school youth, associated disparity and access to prevention programming.
