Allison Griffith is using her new role as school resource officer at Locust Elementary as a way to give back to the community.

“I have seen many children who do not have coats with them at school or their jackets are thin,” Griffith said. “I just want to do everything in my power to make sure these kids are taken care of this cold winter season.”

Griffith is now collecting new or gently used scarves, gloves, jackets, hoodies and pullovers. Donations will be accepted at the Locust Police Department, 186 Ray Kennedy Dr., Locust, until Dec. 31.

On Jan. 9, 2021, Locust Police will host an event to provide these donated items to any children and youth in need. Event details will be determined based on the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated requirements.
