South Stanly women’s basketball wins home opener over Timberwolves

The South Stanly women’s basketball team opened the 2020-21 season Wednesday night with a 41-31 non-conference win over Montgomery Central.

Kalea LeGrand and Sadie led South (1-0) with 11 points each, with LeGrand scoring five in a third-quarter run which saw the Bulls extend their lead by outscoring Montgomery Central (0-1) 15-4 in the frame.

Jessica Dunlap added nine points for the Bulls.

Genevia Drake led the Timberwolves and all scorers with 13 points.

South hosts West Stanly Friday night.
