The Southside Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire around 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

The fire originated in the attic of the house, which is located along Southbound Road in Albemarle, according to Assistant Fire Marshal Evan Faulkner. East Side Volunteer Fire Department, Center Rural Volunteer Fire Department and Aquadale Fire Department also assisted.

Faulkner said no one was injured though a person was home at the time. In addition to the fire damage, Faulkner said there was also extensive water damage to many parts of the house.

He estimated it took less than an hour for firefighters to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
