Association to offer Betty Watson Scholarship

Stanly County Extension & Community Association will offer the $1,000 Betty Watson Scholarship to a Stanly County student.
To qualify for this scholarship the applicant must be a resident of Stanly County. The deadline for the Betty Watson Scholarship has been extended and all applications should be received by March 31.
Scholarships will be given to students enrolled in Human Development & Family Studies, Child Development, Nutrition, Food Science or Ag & Extension Education with a focus in Family & Consumer Sciences at an accredited college or university. Adults continuing their education in an accredited college program will also be considered.
Ranking criteria for applicants will include:
• intent to major in Human Development & Family Studies, Child Development, Nutrition, Food Science, or Agriculture Extension Education (25 percent);
• Scholastic Achievement (GPA/Class Rank) (25 percent);
• College Aptitude (grades-enrolled) or SAT/ACT Scores (25 percent);
• Initiative, character and/or leadership ability (25 percent).
Completed applications for the Betty Watson Scholarship should be returned by the March 31 deadline to the NC Cooperative Extension Service, Stanly County Center, 26032-E Newt Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
