The Endy Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The fire originated on the back porch of the house, which is located along St. Martin Road in Albemarle, and then extended into the attic space, according to Assistant Fire Marshal Evan Faulkner. Albemarle Station 2 and Millingport Volunteer Fire Department also assisted. The cause of the fire was due to a cooking-related accident.

Faulkner estimated it took about 20 minutes for firefighters to control the fire.

No one was injured.

Though the fire was mainly contained to the outside and the attic, much of the house suffered from water damage, Faulkner said. Aside from the damage to the attic, the roof will need to be replaced.
