After a close overtime win at Albemarle Thursday night, the North Stanly Comets looked to stay undefeated in Yadkin Valley Conference play Friday at North Moore.

Playing their third game in as many nights, the Comets jumped out to an early lead and pulled away from the Mustangs for a 75-60 win.

Dyson Bell connected six times from the three-point arc and led North Stanly (5-2, 5-0 YVC) with 26 points. Stefan Harris added 21 points, 10 of which came in a first quarter where he scored as many points as North Moore did as a team as the Comets led after one quarter, 19-10.

Andy McLeod led the Mustangs (2-2, 2-1) with seven points.

The win puts North Stanly a half-game ahead of idle Uwharrie Charter (4-0 YVC) for first place in the standings with three conference games left.

Chatham Central entered Friday’s home game with winless South Davidson also perfect in conference at 4-0 overall. North Stanly hosts the Bears Tuesday night in a conference matchup.
