The Pfeiffer University women’s soccer team has been selected to finish second in the USA South East Division as the league announced its 2021 Spring Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Polls today.

Pfeiffer, fresh from winning the 2019 USA South East Division Championship, is led by first-year head coach Katie Cobb. The Falcons gained a pair first-place votes and managed 42 points, just two shy of preseason favorite Greensboro College. The Pride amassed 44 points and had three-first place votes. Methodist received three first-place votes and 40 points to be placed third in the preseason rankings.

Pfeiffer welcomes four players from the 2019 divisional title team that finished 13-5 overall and 7-1 in league play. Due to NCAA Reclassifying, Pfeiffer was not eligible for the 2019 USA South Tournament or the NCAA Tournament. All that has changed for the 2020-21 season, as Pfeiffer is now eligible for both league and NCAA postseason tournaments across all sports.

Returning this spring are all-conference performers in midfielder Gabby Bosak (Charleston, S.C.) and defender Morgan Cecil (St. Cloud, Fla.). Bosak notched a team-high seven assists and had a goal in her junior campaign in 2019 while Cecil had a pair of assists and helped anchor a Falcon defense that allowed just 10.1 shots per game and a miniscule .89 goals against average.

Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) returns after earning USA South East Division First Team honors as a forward. She was second on the team in goals scored with eight and had three assists, finishing with 19 points.

Returning senior Meredith Manson (Lakeland, Fla.) earned USA South East Division First Team honors as a defender in 2019. At that position, she helped the Falcons by scoring six times and providing one assist.

The Falcons are poised to start their 2021 spring season on Feb. 13 with a home match against Methodist.
