The Pfeiffer men’s soccer team avenged an early season loss to Piedmont by taking a 3-0 win over the Lions in the Falcons home opener at Lefko Field on Thursday afternoon.

Playing on a beautiful late February afternoon, the Falcons got on the board first when Caleb Bratager (Wake Forest, N.C.) scored an unassisted goal in the 26th minute. Freshman Jamarcus Timmons (Wingate, N.C.) put Pfeiffer up 2-0 after he took a cross from senior Caz Dabrowski (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) and headed the ball over the Lion goalkeeper, scoring his first career goal.

After leading 2-0 at halftime, Pfeiffer’s Nico Soriano (Concord, N.C.) converted a penalty kick in the late stages after a Piedmont defender was called for a hand-ball inside the box. Soriano’s goal provided the eventual 3-0 final, earning Pfeiffer their first win of the 2021 spring season and evening their record to 1-1 overall.

Pfeiffer outshot the Pride 24-1 in the match while earning four corner kicks while not allowing one for the visitors.

Pfeiffer’s Johvany Herrera (Concord, N.C.) earned the win in goal for the Falcons while Piedmont’s Sam Norris Riches was saddled with the loss.
