Oakboro STEM scholars recently participated in the Kindness Unites paper chain challenge. Students in kindergarten to fifth grade created paper links decorated with messages of kindness, love and hope as part of their guidance class with school counselor Sharon Cole.

Each link had to be made from recycled paper, measured and cut to the correct width and length. More than 8,000 links were made and linked together, equaling a distance of almost half a mile. Oakboro’s contribution will go toward a united “masterPEACE” to help set a new Guinness World Record that will live on in hospitals, senior centers, schools and other institutions to memorialize this time and serve as a reminder that love and kindness connect all.

The links were sent to KidsforPeace headquarters in California and now Oakboro STEM students are connected with millions of other students focused on kindness.
