New London will soon feature some signs aimed at getting drivers to slow down.

At the most recent meeting, the town’s council approved the purchase of two radar speed signs from ElanCity.

Mayor Tate Daniels said the signs would be similar to the ones in Norwood. The brand name of the signs are Evolis and they have mountable solar panels as well as batteries.

The speed goes down to 35 miles per hour when cars come off U.S. Highway 52 then drops to 25 at the fire department, according to mayor pro tem Johnny Chestnut.

“They’re just zinging through there,” Chestnut said.

The cost for two complete units for the town will be $5,299.
