Oakboro Police arrest man after finding almost 80 grams of drugs, money

A man was arrested last Thursday in Oakboro after police found almost 80 grams of drugs and money.

According to the Oakboro Police Department, Sgt. Jason Eschert made a traffic stop around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Wade Road. Police said the Kobe Sanders, the driver of a black Jeep, was traveling 56 mph in a 35 mph zone and he passed on a double yellow line.

He had no operator’s license and the car had a limited expired registration plate.

Eschert smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Upon further investigation, police said Sanders was in possession of 77.3 grams of marijuana and cash. He was cited on traffic violations and arrested on drug charges, including felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule VI, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Sanders, 20, was transported to Stanly County Jail and placed under a secure $5,000 bond.
