Pfeiffer women’s soccer shuts out Meredith

The Pfeiffer University women’s soccer blanked visiting Meredith 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Lefko Field.

Pfeiffer (2-2-2, 2-2-2 USA South) outshot the visiting Angels (2-2-1, 2-2-1) 16-1 and had a decisive 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Falcons struck first at 35:01 when Dayanna Riera (Bronx, N.Y.) buried a cross from Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) for her second goal of the season. The goal is Riera’s second of the season and the ninth of her career while wearing the Black and Yellow

Pfeiffer’s second goal of the night came at 65:49 when senior Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) buried a shot past Meredith goalkeeper Miranda Lutz after receiving a pass from freshman Chloe Johnson (Fort Mill, S.C.). Manson’s tally was the 13th of her Falcon career while the assist for Johnson marks the first helper of her collegiate career.

Falcons goalkeeper Haley Zoltoski (Raleigh, N.C.) made one save in earning the win, her second shutout of the season.

The Falcons will return to Lefko Field on Saturday, March 27 for a 1:00 p.m. USA South match with Averett. Prior to the match, Pfeiffer will honor six seniors who will be playing in the final home match of their careers.
